About Ha Long Bay｜Vietnam's World Heritage site
Ha Long Bay has more than 1,600 limestone islands rising out of the water like carvings, and it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1994. The karst scenery is often compared to Guilin in China, which is why it is nicknamed the Guilin of the Sea. It is also called the Switzerland of the East、one of the wonders of Southeast Asia, among other names. Beyond the scenery there is a good deal of legend and history here, which is part of why it is Vietnam's best-known destination.
Come to Vietnam and skip Ha Long Bay, and you have not really seen the country's landscape at all.

A1: Welcome aboard. The Iris is a luxury day cruise, so there is no overnight stay and seasickness is rarely an issue (the boat is stable and the route is short). Bring: * light clothing and swimwear (if you plan to swim or row) * sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat * a change of clothes, a towel and any personal medication * sandals or trainers for the cave walkways * a valid passport or ID for check-in
A2: No — it's a full-day round trip with no accommodation. You leave Hanoi in the morning and are back at your hotel or meeting point in the evening, which suits anyone short on time or trying a cruise for the first time.
A3: Of course. You can stay on board with the jacuzzi, the music and a drink, or just sit on the sun deck. Your guide will tell you when to be back.
A4: The menu mixes Vietnamese and international dishes — plenty of seafood, salads, hot dishes and desserts, with a reasonable share of meat-free options. For a fully vegetarian meal, add a note when you book and message us (@lanytrip), and we will do our best to arrange it.
A5: The itinerary is adjusted for weather and tides. Unless conditions are severe or the authorities close the bay, the cruise usually sails as planned. If it is cancelled, we tell you in advance and offer an alternative date or a full refund.
A6: The pace is relaxed and the activities are optional. Adults can do the outdoor bits, children can row and swim, and older travellers can sit on deck with a drink. As long as everyone is in reasonable health, it works for all ages.
