2026 Vietnam e-Visa Application Guide

The Vietnam e-Visa is an official electronic permit that allows citizens of eligible countries to enter Vietnam for tourism. The process is 100% online, so you never need to visit a government office in person. Two types are currently available:

• Single entry: One entry into Vietnam, with a maximum stay of 90 days.
• Multiple entry: Multiple entries within the validity period, each stay up to 90 days.

It depends on your passport: Vietnam waives visas for a number of nationalities for 30 or 45 days, while everyone else needs a visa before arrival. Under the Vietnamese government resolution effective 14 August 2023, the e-Visa is open to citizens of all nationalities, and it can be used at air, land and sea border gates. The application is straightforward and completed entirely online once you have the following ready:

• Passport data page: It must show your photo and the barcode clearly, with no glare and nothing covering it, and be valid for at least 6 more months.
• Passport photo on a white background: A recent digital photo taken within the last 6 months, showing your eyebrows and ears, with no glasses.
• Travel details: Your entry and exit dates, plus flight times and flight numbers.

To keep your trip on track, watch out for these:

• Insufficient passport validity: If your passport has less than 6 months' validity on the day you arrive, you will be refused entry.
• Photo does not meet the spec: Using a selfie, a background that is not white, or hair covering your features.
• Errors in your details: A misspelled name or the wrong passport number — by far the most common cause of rejection.
• Damaged or reflective passport: Water marks, damage, glare or writing on the data page.
